The grand ceremony commemorating the 716th anniversary of Buddha King Tran Nhan Tong passing into Nirvana at Yen Tu.
On December 1, 2024, at the Truc Lam Yen Tu Palace, the grand ceremony commemorating the 716th anniversary of King Buddha Tran Nhan Tong entry into Nirvana was solemnly held with the attendance of Elder Most Venerable Thích Thiện Nhơn – Vice Patriarch of the Council of Elders, Chairman of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS); Elder Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu – Permanent Member of the Council of Elders, Vice Chairman of the Executive Council; Most Venerable Thích Gia Quang – Vice Chairman of the Executive Council, Head of the Central Information and Communications Department of VBS; Most Venerable Thích Bảo Nghiêm – Vice Chairman of the Executive Council, Head of the Central Dharma Propagation Department of VBS; Most Venerable Thích Quảng Tùng – Vice Chairman of the Executive Council, Head of the Central Social Charity Department of VBS; Most Venerable Thích Thanh Quyết – Vice Chairman of the Executive Council, Head of the Central Buddhist Education Department of VBS, Head of the VBS of Quảng Ninh Province, Abbot of Yên Tử Pagoda; Most Venerable Thích Thọ Lạc – Permanent Member of the Executive Council, Head of the Central Cultural Department of VBS; as well as representatives from the Tran family in Vietnam, businesses, schools, and numerous Buddhists, followers, and media representatives from both central and local press agencies.

In a solemn and emotional atmosphere, the entire assembly reflected on King Tran Nhan Tong’s life and career. At the same time, they sincerely expressed their gratitude, lighting incense to honor his merits—the wise emperor, national hero, great cultural figure, philosopher, and enlightened monk who founded the Truc Lam Buddhist school and the Truc Lam Yen Tu Zen lineage.
In addition, the moment of commemorating King Buddha becomes even more meaningful and emotional with various activities such as admiring the exhibition space that explains his life journey and philosophy; the candle-making ceremony to offer to the Buddha; inviting calligraphy to sow blessings; and especially the offering ceremony to the Buddha and the Ancestors at Hoa Yen Pagoda and Hue Quang Golden Stupa.
