The forests and mountains of Yên Tử are home to many precious medicinal plants, such as than sa and đan sa. Locals often come here to collect herbs for healing purposes. Legend has it that during the 3rd century BCE, a Northern Daoist named An Ky Sinh came to Yen Tu to practice immortality. He collected medicinal plants, created elixirs for eternal life, and healed the sick. The locals revered him and called him An Tử (Master An), and the mountain was named An Tử Sơn (Mountain of Master An), which later became known as Yen Tu.
One day, however, Master An mysteriously stopped appearing on the mountain, and the locals discovered a natural stone statue in the shape of a monk. They believed that he had transformed into stone. Over two thousand years, despite historical changes and natural disasters that caused destruction, the An Ky Sinh statue has endured.
Around the stone statue, there are still many precious medicinal plants that have the ability to heal and strengthen one’s health.
